Proverbs 19:5-15

1A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who 2breathes out lies will not escape.
Many seek the favor of a generous man,[a] and everyone is a friend to a man who gives 3gifts.
4All a poor man's brothers hate him; 5how much more do his friends go far from him! He pursues them with words, but does not have them.[b]
6Whoever gets sense loves his own soul; he who keeps understanding will 7discover good.
8A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who 9breathes out lies will perish.
10It is not fitting for a fool to live in luxury, much less for 11a slave to rule over princes.
12Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense.
A king's wrath is like 13the growling of a lion, but his 14favor is like 15dew on the grass.
16A foolish son is ruin to his father, and 17a wife's quarreling is 18a continual dripping of rain.
19House and wealth are inherited from fathers, but a prudent wife is 20from the LORD.
21Slothfulness casts into 22a deep sleep, and 23an idle person will suffer hunger.
