Salmos 12:2-8

2 Falsedad habla cada uno a su prójimo; hablan con labios lisonjeros y con doblez de corazón.

3 Corte el SEÑOR todo labio lisonjero, la lengua que habla con exageración;

4 a los que han dicho: Con nuestra lengua prevaleceremos, nuestros labios nos defienden; ¿quién es señor sobre nosotros?

5 Por la desolación del afligido, por los gemidos del menesteroso, me levantaré ahora, dice el SEÑOR; lo pondré en la seguridad que anhela.

6 Las palabras del SEÑOR son palabras puras, plata probada en un crisol en la tierra, siete veces refinada.

7 Tú, SEÑOR, los guardarás; de esta generación los preservarás para siempre.

8 En torno se pasean los impíos, cuando la vileza es exaltada entre los hijos de los hombres.

Salmos 12:2-8 Meaning and Commentary

To the chief Musician upon Sheminith, a Psalm of David. The word "sheminith" is used in the title of Psalm 6:1, and signifies "eighth"; and intends either the eighth note, to which the psalm was sung, or rather the harp of eight chords, to which it was set, as the Targum and Jarchi interpret it. Some Jewish writers {y} understand it of the times of the Messiah; and the Syriac version entitles the psalm, "an accusation of the wicked, and a prophecy concerning the coming of the Messiah:" and the Arabic version says, it is concerning the end of the world, which shall be in the eighth day; and concerning the coming of the Messiah: but Arnobius interprets it of the Lord's day.
