Eternity

Eternity

When the renowned little nun called Mother Teresa died, half a million people gathered in the streets outside the Netaji stadium where her funeral was held. Twelve thousand were inside to attend the funeral of the woman they called "The Saint of the Gutters." She had devoted her life to the poor and the order she founded grew to 600 centers in 126 countries. In 1979 she was given the Nobel Peace Prize.

In Calcutta they erected a huge billboard. It gave her name, Mother Teresa, and 1910, the year of her birth. But they did not put the year of her death as we commonly do. They put 1910 -- Eternity. It was an unusual way to a mark a person's life. Yet we could have the same thing written over our graves -- the year of our birth and instead of the year of our death there could well be written "-- Eternity".
