there he brought the hungry to live, and they founded a city where they could settle.
They sowed fields and planted vineyards1 that yielded a fruitful harvest;
he blessed them, and their numbers greatly increased,2 and he did not let their herds diminish.339
Then their numbers decreased,4 and they were humbled5 by oppression, calamity and sorrow;
he who pours contempt on nobles6 made them wander in a trackless waste.741
But he lifted the needy8 out of their affliction and increased their families like flocks.942
The upright see and rejoice,10 but all the wicked shut their mouths.1143
Whoever is wise,12 let him heed these things and consider the great love13 of the LORD.
