For look, the wicked bend their bows;1 they set their arrows2 against the strings to shoot from the shadows3 at the upright in heart.4

When the foundations5 are being destroyed, what can the righteous doa ?"

The LORD is in his holy temple;6 the LORD is on his heavenly throne.7 He observes the sons of men;8 his eyes examine9 them.

The LORD examines the righteous,10 but the wickedb and those who love violence his soul hates.11

On the wicked he will rain fiery coals and burning sulfur;12 a scorching wind13 will be their lot.

For the LORD is righteous,14 he loves justice;15 upright men16 will see his face.17
