Man is like a breath;1 his days are like a fleeting shadow.25
Part your heavens,3 O LORD, and come down;4 touch the mountains, so that they smoke.56
Send forth lightning6 and scatter7 [the enemies]; shoot your arrows8 and rout them.
Reach down your hand from on high;9 deliver me and rescue me10 from the mighty waters,11 from the hands of foreigners128
whose mouths are full of lies,13 whose right hands14 are deceitful.159
I will sing a new song16 to you, O God; on the ten-stringed lyre17 I will make music to you,
to the One who gives victory to kings,18 who delivers his servant David19 from the deadly sword.2011
Deliver me and rescue me21 from the hands of foreigners22 whose mouths are full of lies,23 whose right hands are deceitful.2412
Then our sons in their youth will be like well-nurtured plants,25 and our daughters will be like pillars26 carved to adorn a palace.
Our barns will be filled27 with every kind of provision. Our sheep will increase by thousands, by tens of thousands in our fields;
our oxen28 will draw heavy loads.a There will be no breaching of walls,29 no going into captivity, no cry of distress in our streets.30
