I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise,1 and I am saved from my enemies.24
The cords of death3 entangled me; the torrents4 of destruction overwhelmed me.
The cords of the gravea coiled around me; the snares of death5 confronted me.
In my distress6 I called to the LORD;7 I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice;8 my cry came9 before him, into his ears.
The earth trembled10 and quaked,11 and the foundations of the mountains shook;12 they trembled because he was angry.138
Smoke rose from his nostrils;14 consuming fire15 came from his mouth, burning coals16 blazed out of it.
He parted the heavens and came down;17 dark clouds18 were under his feet.
He mounted the cherubim19 and flew; he soared20 on the wings of the wind.2111
He made darkness his covering,22 his canopy23 around him-- the dark rain clouds of the sky.
Out of the brightness of his presence24 clouds advanced, with hailstones25 and bolts of lightning.2613
The LORD thundered27 from heaven; the voice of the Most High resounded.b
