They cried to you1 and were saved; in you they trusted2 and were not disappointed.36
But I am a worm4 and not a man, scorned by men5 and despised6 by the people.
All who see me mock me;7 they hurl insults,8 shaking their heads:98
"He trusts in the LORD; let the LORD rescue him.10 Let him deliver him,11 since he delights12 in him."
Yet you brought me out of the womb;13 you made me trust14 in you even at my mother's breast.
From birth15 I was cast upon you; from my mother's womb you have been my God.
Do not be far from me,16 for trouble is near17 and there is no one to help.1812
Many bulls19 surround me;20 strong bulls of Bashan21 encircle me.
Roaring lions22 tearing their prey23 open their mouths wide24 against me.
I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint.25 My heart has turned to wax;26 it has melted away27 within me.
My strength is dried up like a potsherd,28 and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth;29 you lay mea in the dust30 of death.
