1 In you, O LORD, I have taken refuge;1 let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness.2 2 Turn your ear to me,3 come quickly to my rescue;4 be my rock of refuge,5 a strong fortress to save me. 3 Since you are my rock and my fortress,6 for the sake of your name7 lead and guide me. 4 Free me from the trap8 that is set for me, for you are my refuge.9 5 Into your hands I commit my spirit;10 redeem me, O LORD, the God of truth.11 6 I hate those who cling to worthless idols;12 I trust in the LORD.13 7 I will be glad and rejoice in your love, for you saw my affliction14 and knew the anguish15 of my soul. 8 You have not handed me over16 to the enemy but have set my feet in a spacious place.17 9 Be merciful to me, O LORD, for I am in distress;18 my eyes grow weak with sorrow,19 my soul and my body20 with grief. 10 My life is consumed by anguish21 and my years by groaning;22 my strength fails23 because of my affliction,a24 and my bones grow weak.25Scripture quoted by permission.
