Free me from the trap1 that is set for me, for you are my refuge.25
Into your hands I commit my spirit;3 redeem me, O LORD, the God of truth.46
I hate those who cling to worthless idols;5 I trust in the LORD.67
I will be glad and rejoice in your love, for you saw my affliction7 and knew the anguish8 of my soul.
You have not handed me over9 to the enemy but have set my feet in a spacious place.109
Be merciful to me, O LORD, for I am in distress;11 my eyes grow weak with sorrow,12 my soul and my body13 with grief.
My life is consumed by anguish14 and my years by groaning;15 my strength fails16 because of my affliction,a17 and my bones grow weak.1811
Because of all my enemies,19 I am the utter contempt20 of my neighbors;21 I am a dread to my friends-- those who see me on the street flee from me.
I am forgotten by them as though I were dead;22 I have become like broken pottery.
For I hear the slander23 of many; there is terror on every side;24 they conspire against me25 and plot to take my life.2614
But I trust27 in you, O LORD; I say, "You are my God."
