Psalm 31:4-14 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
4 Free me from the trap1 that is set for me, for you are my refuge.2 5 Into your hands I commit my spirit;3 redeem me, O LORD, the God of truth.4 6 I hate those who cling to worthless idols;5 I trust in the LORD.6 7 I will be glad and rejoice in your love, for you saw my affliction7 and knew the anguish8 of my soul. 8 You have not handed me over9 to the enemy but have set my feet in a spacious place.10 9 Be merciful to me, O LORD, for I am in distress;11 my eyes grow weak with sorrow,12 my soul and my body13 with grief. 10 My life is consumed by anguish14 and my years by groaning;15 my strength fails16 because of my affliction,a17 and my bones grow weak.18 11 Because of all my enemies,19 I am the utter contempt20 of my neighbors;21 I am a dread to my friends-- those who see me on the street flee from me. 12 I am forgotten by them as though I were dead;22 I have become like broken pottery. 13 For I hear the slander23 of many; there is terror on every side;24 they conspire against me25 and plot to take my life.26 14 But I trust27 in you, O LORD; I say, "You are my God."
