Psalm 44:7-17 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
7 but you give us victory1 over our enemies, you put our adversaries to shame.2 8 In God we make our boast3 all day long,4 and we will praise your name forever.5 "Selah" 9 But now you have rejected6 and humbled us;7 you no longer go out with our armies.8 10 You made us retreat9 before the enemy, and our adversaries have plundered10 us. 11 You gave us up to be devoured like sheep11 and have scattered us among the nations.12 12 You sold your people for a pittance,13 gaining nothing from their sale. 13 You have made us a reproach14 to our neighbors,15 the scorn16 and derision17 of those around us. 14 You have made us a byword18 among the nations; the peoples shake their heads19 at us. 15 My disgrace20 is before me all day long, and my face is covered with shame21 16 at the taunts22 of those who reproach and revile23 me, because of the enemy, who is bent on revenge.24 17 All this happened to us, though we had not forgotten25 you or been false to your covenant.
