They return at evening, snarling like dogs,1 and prowl about the city.
See what they spew from their mouths2-- they spew out swords3 from their lips, and they say, "Who can hear us?"48
But you, O LORD, laugh at them;5 you scoff at all those nations.69
O my Strength,7 I watch for you; you, O God, are my fortress,810
my loving God. God will go before me and will let me gloat over those who slander me.
But do not kill them, O Lord our shield,a9 or my people will forget.10 In your might make them wander about, and bring them down.1112
For the sins of their mouths,12 for the words of their lips,13 let them be caught in their pride.14 For the curses and lies they utter,
consume them in wrath, consume them till they are no more.15 Then it will be known to the ends of the earth that God rules over Jacob.16 "Selah"
They return at evening, snarling like dogs, and prowl about the city.
They wander about for food17 and howl if not satisfied.
But I will sing18 of your strength,19 in the morning20 I will sing of your love;21 for you are my fortress,22 my refuge in times of trouble.23
