It was you who split open the sea1 by your power; you broke the heads of the monster2 in the waters.
It was you who crushed the heads of Leviathan3 and gave him as food to the creatures of the desert.415
It was you who opened up springs5 and streams; you dried up6 the ever flowing rivers.
The day is yours, and yours also the night; you established the sun and moon.717
It was you who set all the boundaries8 of the earth; you made both summer and winter.918
Remember how the enemy has mocked you, O LORD, how foolish people10 have reviled your name.
Do not hand over the life of your dove11 to wild beasts; do not forget the lives of your afflicted12 people forever.
Have regard for your covenant,13 because haunts of violence fill the dark places14 of the land.
Do not let the oppressed15 retreat in disgrace; may the poor and needy16 praise your name.
Rise up,17 O God, and defend your cause; remember how fools18 mock you all day long.
Do not ignore the clamor19 of your adversaries,20 the uproar21 of your enemies,22 which rises continually.
