10
On the Lord's Day1 I was in the Spirit,2 and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet,311
which said: "Write on a scroll what you see4 and send it to the seven churches:5 to Ephesus,6 Smyrna,7 Pergamum,8 Thyatira,9 Sardis,10 Philadelphia11 and Laodicea."1212
I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands,1313
and among the lampstands14 was someone "like a son of man,"a15 dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet16 and with a golden sash around his chest.1714
His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire.1815
His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace,19 and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters.2016
In his right hand he held seven stars,21 and out of his mouth came a sharp double-edged sword.22 His face was like the sun23 shining in all its brilliance.

When I saw him, I fell at his feet24 as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me25 and said: "Do not be afraid.26 I am the First and the Last.2718I am the Living One; I was dead,28 and behold I am alive for ever and ever!29 And I hold the keys of death and Hades.3019"Write, therefore, what you have seen,31 what is now and what will take place later.20The mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand32 and of the seven golden lampstands33 is this: The seven stars are the angelsb of the seven churches,34 and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.35
