1 Chronicles 4:12 Meaning and Commentary

1 Chronicles 4:12

And Eshton begat Bethrapha
Or the family of Rapha:

and Paseah, and Tehinnah the father of Irnahash;
or the city of Nahash; Tehinnah seems to have been the prince or governor of a city, so called:

these are the men of Rechah;
these sons of Eshton dwelt in a place called Rechah; the Targum, without any reason, says, these are the men of the great sanhedrim.

12 Eshton was the father of Beth Rapha, Paseah and Tehinnah the father of Ir Nahash. These were the men of Rekah.
13 The sons of Kenaz: Othniel and Seraiah. The sons of Othniel: Hathath and Meonothai.
14 Meonothai was the father of Ophrah. Seraiah was the father of Joab, the father of Ge Harashim. It was called this because its people were skilled workers.
