Joshua 13:2-6

2 1This is the land that yet remains: all the 2regions of the Philistines, and all those of the Geshurites
3 (from the 3Shihor, which is east of Egypt, northward to the boundary of Ekron, it is counted as Canaanite; 4there are five rulers of the Philistines, those of Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath, and Ekron), and those of 5the Avvim,
4 in the south, all the land of the Canaanites, and Mearah that belongs to the Sidonians, to Aphek, to the boundary of 6the Amorites,
5 and the land of the 7Gebalites, and all Lebanon, toward the sunrise, from 8Baal-gad below Mount Hermon to 9Lebo-hamath,
6 all the inhabitants of the hill country from Lebanon to 10Misrephoth-maim, even all the Sidonians. I myself will drive 11them out from before the people of Israel. Only 12allot the land to Israel 13for an inheritance, as I have commanded you.

Joshua 13:2-6 Meaning and Commentary

\\INTRODUCTION JOSHUA 13\\

In this chapter Joshua is informed by the Lord, or put in mind, that
part of the land of Canaan remained unconquered, and which it was; and
is directed to divide the whole land among the nine tribes, and the
half tribe of Manasseh, Jos 13:1-9; and since the two tribes of Reuben
and Gad, and the other half tribe of Manasseh, had received their
inheritance on the other side Jordan, Jos 13:8; that is described in
general, Jos 13:9-14; and, then the particular portion of Reuben,
Jos 13:15-23; and of Gad, Jos 13:24-28; and of the half tribe of
Manasseh, Jos 13:29-33.
