28
"And though they foundnoground for putting Him to death, they 6askedPilate that He be executed.
29
"When they had 7carried out all that was writtenconcerning Him, 8they took Him down from 9the cross and 10laid Him in a tomb.
31
and for manydays12He appeared to those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, the very oneswho are now13His witnesses to the people.
32
"And we 14preach to you the goodnews of 15the promisemade to the fathers,
33
that God has fulfilledthis promise to our children in that He 16raised up Jesus, as it is alsowritten in the secondPsalm, '17YOU ARE MY SON; TODAY I HAVE BEGOTTEN YOU.'
34
"As for the fact that He 18raised Him up from the dead, nolonger to return to decay, He has spoken in thisway: '19I WILL GIVE YOU THE HOLY and SURE blessings OF DAVID.'
35
"Therefore He alsosays in another Psalm, '20YOU WILL NOT ALLOW YOUR HOLYONE TO UNDERGODECAY.'

38
"Therefore let it be known to you, brethren*, that 25through Him forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you,

42
As Paul and Barnabas were going out, the people kept begging that thesethings might be spoken to them the next29Sabbath.
43

Paul Turns to the Gentiles
44 The next33Sabbathnearly the wholecityassembled to hear the word of the Lord.
45
But when 34the Jewssaw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began contradicting the thingsspoken by Paul, and were blaspheming.
46
Paul and Barnabasspoke out boldly and said, "It was necessary that the word of God be spoken to you 35first; since you repudiate it and judgeyourselvesunworthy* of eternallife, behold, 36we are turning to the Gentiles.
47
"For so the Lord has commanded us, '37I HAVE PLACED YOU AS A 38LIGHT FOR THE GENTILES, THAT YOU MAY BRING*SALVATION TO THE END OF THE EARTH.' "
48
When the Gentilesheard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying39the word of the Lord; and as many as 40had beenappointed to eternallifebelieved.
49
And 41the word of the Lord was being spreadthrough the wholeregion.
50
But 42the Jewsincited the 43devoutwomen44of prominence and the leadingmen of the city, and instigated a persecutionagainstPaul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their district.
51
But 45they shookoff the dust of their feet in protest against them and went to 46Iconium.
52
And the disciples were continually 47filled with joy and with the HolySpirit.
