Genesis 43:26 Meaning and Commentary

Genesis 43:26

And when Joseph came home
In order to dine, it being noontime: they brought him the present which [was] in their hand into the house;
everyone took a part of it in his hand, and brought it to Joseph in the parlour where he was, and delivered it to him as a present from their father, or from themselves, or it may be as from both: and bowed themselves to him to the earth;
in the most prostrate and humble manner, now again fulfilling his dream, and more completely than before, for now all his eleven brethren were together, signified by the eleven stars in the dream, that made obeisance to him, see ( Genesis 37:9 ) ( 42:6 ) .

Genesis 43:26 In-Context

24 And the man brought the men into Joseph's house, and gave them water and they washed their feet; and he gave their asses provender.
25 And they made ready the present for Joseph's coming at noon, for they heard that they should eat bread there.
26 And when Joseph came home, they brought him the present which was in their hand into the house, and bowed themselves before him to the earth.
27 And he asked them of their welfare and said, "Is your father well, the old man of whom ye spoke? Is he yet alive?"
28 And they answered, "Thy servant our father is in good health; he is yet alive." And they bowed down their heads and made obeisance.
