A prophecy1 concerning Moab:2 Ar3 in Moab is ruined,4 destroyed in a night! Kir5 in Moab is ruined, destroyed in a night!
Dibon6 goes up to its temple, to its high places7 to weep; Moab wails8 over Nebo9 and Medeba. Every head is shaved10 and every beard cut off.113
In the streets they wear sackcloth;12 on the roofs13 and in the public squares14 they all wail,15 prostrate with weeping.164
Heshbon17 and Elealeh18 cry out, their voices are heard all the way to Jahaz.19 Therefore the armed men of Moab cry out, and their hearts are faint.
My heart cries out20 over Moab;21 her fugitives22 flee as far as Zoar,23 as far as Eglath Shelishiyah. They go up the hill to Luhith, weeping as they go; on the road to Horonaim24 they lament their destruction.256
The waters of Nimrim are dried up26 and the grass is withered;27 the vegetation is gone28 and nothing green is left.297
So the wealth they have acquired30 and stored up they carry away over the Ravine of the Poplars.
Their outcry echoes along the border of Moab; their wailing reaches as far as Eglaim, their lamentation as far as Beer31 Elim.
The waters of Dimona are full of blood, but I will bring still more upon Dimonb-- a lion32 upon the fugitives of Moab33 and upon those who remain in the land.
