Praise be to the LORD my Rock,1 who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.
He is my loving God and my fortress,2 my stronghold3 and my deliverer, my shield,4 in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoplesa5 under me.
LORD, what are human beings6 that you care for them, mere mortals that you think of them?
They are like a breath;7 their days are like a fleeting shadow.85
Part your heavens,9 LORD, and come down;10 touch the mountains, so that they smoke.116
Send forth lightning12 and scatter13 the enemy; shoot your arrows14 and rout them.
Reach down your hand from on high;15 deliver me and rescue me16 from the mighty waters,17 from the hands of foreigners188
whose mouths are full of lies,19 whose right hands20 are deceitful.219
I will sing a new song22 to you, my God; on the ten-stringed lyre23 I will make music to you,
to the One who gives victory to kings,24 who delivers his servant David.25 From the deadly sword2611
deliver me; rescue me27 from the hands of foreigners28 whose mouths are full of lies,29 whose right hands are deceitful.3012
Then our sons in their youth will be like well-nurtured plants,31 and our daughters will be like pillars32 carved to adorn a palace.
Our barns will be filled33 with every kind of provision. Our sheep will increase by thousands, by tens of thousands in our fields;
our oxen34 will draw heavy loads.b There will be no breaching of walls,35 no going into captivity, no cry of distress in our streets.3615
Blessed is the people37 of whom this is true; blessed is the people whose God is the LORD.
