Now the daycame that Jonathan, the son of Saul, said to the youngman who was carrying his armor, "Come and let us crossover to the Philistines'garrison that is on the otherside." But he did not tell his father.

and Ahijah, the son of Ahitub, Ichabod'sbrother, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eli, the priest of the LORD at Shiloh, was wearing an ephod. And the people did not know that Jonathan had gone.

Between the passes by whichJonathansought to crossover to the Philistines'garrison, there was a sharpcrag on the oneside and a sharpcrag on the otherside, and the name of the one was Bozez, and the name of the otherSeneh.

Then Jonathansaid to the youngman who was carrying his armor, "Come and let us crossover to the garrison of theseuncircumcised; perhaps the LORD will work for us, for the LORD is not restrained to save by manyor by few."

When both of them revealed themselves to the garrison of the Philistines, the Philistinessaid, "Behold, Hebrews are coming out of the holeswhere* they have hidden themselves."

So the men of the garrisonhailedJonathan and his armorbearer and said, "Come up to us and we will tell you something." And Jonathansaid to his armorbearer, "Come up after me, for the LORD has given them into the hands of Israel."

Then Jonathanclimbed up on his hands and feet, with his armorbearerbehind him; and they fellbeforeJonathan, and his armorbearerput some to deathafter him.

And there was a trembling in the camp, in the field, and among all the people. Even the garrison and the raiderstrembled, and the earthquaked so that it became a greattrembling.

Saulsaid to the peoplewho were with him, "Numbernow and seewho has gone from us." And when they had numbered, behold, Jonathan and his armorbearer were not there.

WhileSaultalked to the priest, the commotion in the camp of the Philistinescontinued and increased; so Saulsaid to the priest, "Withdraw your hand."

Then Saul and all the peoplewho were with him rallied and came to the battle; and behold, everyman'ssword was against his fellow, and there was verygreatconfusion.

Now the Hebrews who were with the Philistinespreviously, whowent up with them allaround in the camp, even they also turned to be with the Israeliteswho were with Saul and Jonathan.

When all the men of Israel who had hidden themselves in the hillcountry of Ephraimheard that the Philistines had fled, even they alsopursued them closely in the battle.
