1 Crónicas 23:1-9

1 Siendo, pues, David ya viejo y lleno de días, hizo a Salomón su hijo rey sobre Israel

2 Y juntando a todos los príncipes de Israel, y a los sacerdotes y levitas

3 fueron contados los levitas de treinta años arriba; y fue el número de ellos por sus cabezas, contados por varones, treinta y ocho mil

4 De éstos, veinticuatro mil para dar prisa a la obra de la Casa del SEÑOR; y gobernadores y jueces, seis mil

5 además cuatro mil porteros; y cuatro mil para alabar al SEÑOR, con los instrumentos que David había hecho para rendir alabanzas

6 Y los repartió David en órdenes conforme a los hijos de Leví, de Gersón, de Coat, y de Merari

7 Los hijos de Gersón: Laadán, y Simei

8 Los hijos de Laadán, tres: Jehiel el primero, Zetam y Joel

9 Los hijos de Simei, tres: Selomit, Haziel, y Arán. Estos fueron las cabezas paternas de las familias de Laadán

INTRODUCTION TO 1 CHRONICLES 23

In this chapter David makes Solomon king, 1Ch 23:1, calls together the princes, priests, and Levites, numbers the latter, and assigns them their proper work, 1Ch 23:2-5, divides them into three classes, 1Ch 23:6-23, when the number of them was taken from twenty years of age, and upwards; the reasons of which are given, partly from the rest the land enjoyed, and partly from the several branches of their work and office in the temple, 1Ch 23:24-32.
