And he saidalsountohisdisciples,There was a certainrichman,whichhad a steward;and the same was accused unto himthat he had wastedhisgoods.

And he calledhim, and said unto him,How is it that I hearthisofthee?give an account of thystewardship;for thou mayest benolongersteward.

Then the stewardsaidwithinhimself,What shall I do? formylord taketh awayfromme the stewardship: I cannot*dig; to beg I am ashamed.

I am resolvedwhat to do, that,when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receivemeintotheirhouses.

So he calledeveryone of hislord'sdebtors unto him, and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto mylord?

And he said, An hundredmeasures[a] of oil.And he said unto him,Takethybill,and sit downquickly, and writefifty.

Then said he to another,And how muchowestthou?And he said, An hundredmeasures[b] of wheat.And he said unto him,Takethybill,andwritefourscore.

And the lordcommended the unjuststeward,because he had donewisely:for the children of thisworldareintheirgenerationwiserthan the children of light.

And Isay unto you,Make to yourselvesfriendsof the mammon[c] of unrighteousness;that,when ye fail, they may receiveyouintoeverlastinghabitations.
10
He that is faithfulin that which is leastisfaithfulalsoinmuch:and he that is unjustin the leastisunjustalsoinmuch.

Iftherefore ye havenotbeenfaithfulin the unrighteousmammon,[d]who will commit to yourtrust the true riches?
12
Andif ye havenotbeenfaithfulin that which is another man's,who shall giveyou that which is your own?

Noservantcanservetwomasters:foreither he will hate the one,andlove the other; or else he will hold to the one,anddespise the other. Ye cannot*serveGodandmammon.

And the Phariseesalso, who werecovetous,heardall these things:and they deridedhim.
15
And he said unto them,Yeare they which justifyyourselvesbeforemen;butGodknowethyourhearts:for that which is highly esteemedamongmenisabomination in the sight of God.

The lawand the prophets were untilJohn:since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every manpressethintoit.
17
And it iseasier for heavenandearth to pass, thanonetittle of the law to fail.

Whosoever putteth awayhiswife,andmarriethanother, committeth adultery: andwhosoevermarrieth her that is put awayfrom her husband committeth adultery.
