1One of 2the synagogueofficialsnamedJairuscame up, and on seeing Him, fell at His feet

and implored Him earnestly, saying, "My littledaughter is at the point of death; please come and 3lay Your hands on her, so that she will getwell and live."

And He wentoff with him; and a largecrowd was following Him and pressing in on Him.
25
A woman who had had a hemorrhage* for twelveyears,
26
and had enduredmuch at the hands of manyphysicians, and had spentall that she had and was not helped at all, but rather had grownworse -
27
after hearingaboutJesus, she came up in the crowdbehind Him and touched His cloak.
28
For she thought, "If I justtouch His garments, I will get well."
29
Immediately the flow of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her 4affliction.
30
ImmediatelyJesus, perceiving in Himself that 5the power proceeding from Him had goneforth, turnedaround in the crowd and said, "Whotouched My garments?"

And His disciplessaid to Him, "You see the crowdpressing in on You, and You say, 'Whotouched Me?' "

And He lookedaround to see the woman who had donethis.
33
But the womanfearing and trembling, aware of what had happened to her, came and felldownbefore Him and told Him the wholetruth.

And He said to her, "Daughter, 6your faith has made you well; 7go in peace and be healed of your 8affliction."

While He was stillspeaking, they came from the house of the 9synagogueofficial, saying, "Your daughter has died; whytrouble the Teacheranymore?"
36
But Jesus, overhearingwhat* was being spoken, said to the 10synagogueofficial, "11Do not be afraid any longer, onlybelieve."

And He allowedno*one to accompany Him, except12Peter and James and John the brother of James.

They came to the house of the 13synagogueofficial; and He saw a commotion, and people loudlyweeping and wailing.

And entering in, He said to them, "Whymake a commotion and weep? The child has not died, but is asleep."

They began laughing at Him. But putting them all out, He tookalong the child'sfather and mother and His own companions*, and entered the room where the child was.
41
Taking the child by the hand, He said to her, "Talithakum!" (whichtranslatedmeans, "Littlegirl, 14I say to you, get up!").

Immediately the girlgot up and began to walk, for she was twelveyears old. And immediately they were completely*astounded.

And He 15gave them strictorders that noone should know about this, and He said that something should be given her to eat.
