1They spat on Him, and took the reed and began to beat Him on the head.

2After they had mocked Him, they took the scarlet robeoff Him and put His own garments back on Him, and led Him away to crucify Him.

3As they were coming out, they found a man of 4CyrenenamedSimon, whom they pressed into service to bear His cross.
The Crucifixion
335And when they came to a placecalled6Golgotha, whichmeansPlace of a Skull,

7they gave Him 8wine to drinkmixed with gall; and after tasting it, He was unwilling* to drink.

And when they had crucified Him, 9they divided up His garmentsamong themselves by castinglots.

And sittingdown, they began to 10keepwatchover Him there.

And above His head they put up the chargeagainst Him which read, "11THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS."

At that timetworobbers were crucified with Him, one on the right and one on the left.

And thosepassing by were hurlingabuse at Him, 12wagging their heads

and saying, "13You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in threedays, saveYourself! 14If You are the Son of God, comedown from the cross."
