Hebrews 3

WEB 1 Therefore, holy brothers, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Jesus; NIV 1 Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest. WEB 2 who was faithful to him who appointed him, as also was Moses in all his house. NIV 2 He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God’s house. WEB 3 For he has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, by so much as he who built the house has more honor than the house. NIV 3 Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself. WEB 4 For every house is built by someone; but he who built all things is God. NIV 4 For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. WEB 5 Moses indeed was faithful in all his house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were afterward to be spoken, NIV 5 “Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house,” bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future. WEB 6 but Christ as a Son, over his house; whose house are we, if we hold fast our boldness and the glorying of our hope firm to the end. NIV 6 But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory. WEB 7 Therefore, even as the Holy Spirit says, "Today if you will hear his voice, NIV 7 So, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you hear his voice, WEB 8 Don't harden your hearts, as in the provocation, Like as in the day of the trial in the wilderness, NIV 8 do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the wilderness, WEB 9 Where your fathers tested me by proving me, And saw my works for forty years. NIV 9 where your ancestors tested and tried me, though for forty years they saw what I did. WEB 10 Therefore I was displeased with that generation, And said, 'They always err in their heart, But they didn't know my ways;' NIV 10 That is why I was angry with that generation; I said, ‘Their hearts are always going astray, and they have not known my ways.’ WEB 11 As I swore in my wrath, 'They will not enter into my rest.'" NIV 11 So I declared on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter my rest.’ ” WEB 12 Beware, brothers, lest perhaps there will be in any one of you an evil heart of unbelief, in falling away from the living God; NIV 12 See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. WEB 13 but exhort one another day by day, so long as it is called "today;" lest any one of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. NIV 13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. WEB 14 For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our confidence firm to the end: NIV 14 We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end. WEB 15 while it is said, "Today if you will hear his voice, Don't harden your hearts, as in the provocation." NIV 15 As has just been said: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.” WEB 16 For who, when they heard, did provoke? No, didn't all those who came out of Egypt by Moses? NIV 16 Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt? WEB 17 With whom was he displeased forty years? Wasn't it with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? NIV 17 And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies perished in the wilderness? WEB 18 To whom did he swear that they should not enter into his rest, but to those who were disobedient? NIV 18 And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest if not to those who disobeyed? WEB 19 We see that they were not able to enter in because of unbelief. NIV 19 So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief.
