1 Y respondió Job, y dijo:

Then Job replied:
2 ¿En qué ayudaste al que no tiene fuerza? ¿Has salvado con <I>tu</I> brazo al que no tiene fortaleza?

“How you have helped the powerless! How you have saved the arm that is feeble!
3 ¿En qué aconsejaste al que no tiene ciencia, y mostraste bien <I>tu</I> sabiduría?

What advice you have offered to one without wisdom! And what great insight you have displayed!
4 ¿A quién has anunciado palabras, y de quién es el espíritu que de ti sale?

Who has helped you utter these words? And whose spirit spoke from your mouth?
5 <I>Cosas</I> muertas son formadas debajo de las aguas, y de sus cavernas.

“The dead are in deep anguish, those beneath the waters and all that live in them.
6 El sepulcro es descubierto delante de él, y el infierno no tiene cobertura.

The realm of the dead is naked before God; Destruction lies uncovered.
7 Extiende el aquilón sobre vacío, cuelga la tierra sobre nada.

He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing.
8 Ata las aguas en sus nubes, y las nubes no se rompen debajo de ellas.

He wraps up the waters in his clouds, yet the clouds do not burst under their weight.
9 El aprieta la faz de su trono, y extiende sobre él su nube.

He covers the face of the full moon, spreading his clouds over it.
10 El cercó con término la superficie de las aguas, hasta que se acabe la luz y las tinieblas.

He marks out the horizon on the face of the waters for a boundary between light and darkness.
11 Las columnas del cielo tiemblan, y se espantan de su reprensión.

The pillars of the heavens quake, aghast at his rebuke.
12 El rompe el mar con su potencia, y con su entendimiento hiere <I>la</I> hinchazón <I>suya</I> .

By his power he churned up the sea; by his wisdom he cut Rahab to pieces.
13 Su espíritu adornó los cielos; su mano creó la serpiente huidora.

By his breath the skies became fair; his hand pierced the gliding serpent.
14 He aquí, éstas son partes de sus caminos; ¡y cuán poco <I>es</I> lo que hemos oído de él! Porque el estruendo de sus fortalezas, ¿quién lo entenderá?

And these are but the outer fringe of his works; how faint the whisper we hear of him! Who then can understand the thunder of his power?”
