1 Se o SENHOR não estivesse do nosso lado;que Israel o repita:

1 If the LORD had not been on our side— let Israel say—

2 Se o SENHOR não estivesse do nosso ladoquando os inimigos nos atacaram,

2 if the LORD had not been on our side when people attacked us,

3 eles já nos teriam engolido vivos,quando se enfureceram contra nós;

3 they would have swallowed us alive when their anger flared against us;

4 as águas nos teriam arrastadoe as torrentes nos teriam afogado;

4 the flood would have engulfed us, the torrent would have swept over us,

5 sim, as águas violentas nos teriam afogado!

5 the raging waters would have swept us away.

6 Bendito seja o SENHOR,que não nos entregou para sermos dilaceradospelos dentes deles.

6 Praise be to the LORD, who has not let us be torn by their teeth.

7 Como um pássaro escapamosda armadilha do caçador;a armadilha foi quebrada,e nós escapamos.

7 We have escaped like a bird from the fowler’s snare; the snare has been broken, and we have escaped.

8 O nosso socorro está no nome do SENHOR,que fez os céus e a terra.

8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
