Three days after arriving in the province, Festus went up from Caesarea to Jerusalem,
2 donde los sacerdotes principales y otros líderes judíos se reunieron con él y le presentaron sus acusaciones contra Pablo.

where the chief priests and the Jewish leaders appeared before him and presented the charges against Paul.
3 Le pidieron a Festo que les hiciera el favor de trasladar a Pablo a Jerusalén (ya que tenían pensado tenderle una emboscada y matarlo en el camino).

They requested Festus, as a favor to them, to have Paul transferred to Jerusalem, for they were preparing an ambush to kill him along the way.
4 Pero Festo respondió que Pablo estaba en Cesarea y que pronto él mismo iba a regresar allí.

Festus answered, “Paul is being held at Caesarea, and I myself am going there soon.
5 Así que les dijo: «Algunos de ustedes que tengan autoridad pueden volver conmigo. Si Pablo ha hecho algo malo, entonces podrán presentar sus acusaciones».

Let some of your leaders come with me, and if the man has done anything wrong, they can press charges against him there.”
6 Unos ocho o diez días después, Festo regresó a Cesarea y, al día siguiente, tomó su lugar en la corte y ordenó que trajeran a Pablo.

After spending eight or ten days with them, Festus went down to Caesarea. The next day he convened the court and ordered that Paul be brought before him.
7 Cuando Pablo llegó, los líderes judíos de Jerusalén lo rodearon e hicieron muchas acusaciones graves que no podían probar.

When Paul came in, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem stood around him. They brought many serious charges against him, but they could not prove them.
8 Pablo negó los cargos. «No soy culpable de ningún delito contra las leyes judías, ni contra el templo, ni contra el gobierno romano», dijo.

Then Paul made his defense: “I have done nothing wrong against the Jewish law or against the temple or against Caesar.”
9 Entonces Festo, queriendo complacer a los judíos, le preguntó:<br />—¿Estás dispuesto a ir a Jerusalén y ser juzgado ante mí allá?

Festus, wishing to do the Jews a favor, said to Paul, “Are you willing to go up to Jerusalem and stand trial before me there on these charges?”
10 Pero Pablo contestó:<br />—¡No! Esta es la corte oficial romana, por lo tanto, debo ser juzgado aquí mismo. Usted sabe muy bien que no soy culpable de hacer daño a los judíos.

Paul answered: “I am now standing before Caesar’s court, where I ought to be tried. I have not done any wrong to the Jews, as you yourself know very well.
11 Si he hecho algo digno de muerte, no me niego a morir; pero si soy inocente, nadie tiene el derecho de entregarme a estos hombres para que me maten. ¡Apelo al César!

If, however, I am guilty of doing anything deserving death, I do not refuse to die. But if the charges brought against me by these Jews are not true, no one has the right to hand me over to them. I appeal to Caesar!”
12 Festo consultó con sus consejeros y después respondió:<br />—¡Muy bien! Has apelado al César, ¡y al César irás!

After Festus had conferred with his council, he declared: “You have appealed to Caesar. To Caesar you will go!”
