1 Y saldrá <I>una</I> vara del tronco de Jessé, y <I>un</I> renuevo retoñará de sus raíces.

2 Y reposará sobre él el Espíritu del SEÑOR, Espíritu de sabiduría y de inteligencia, Espíritu de consejo, y de fortaleza, Espíritu de conocimiento y de temor del SEÑOR;

3 y le hará oler en el temor del SEÑOR. No juzgará según la vista de sus ojos; ni argüirá por lo que oyeren sus oídos.

4 Sino que juzgará con justicia a los pobres, y argüirá con equidad por los mansos de la tierra; y herirá la tierra con la vara de su boca, y con el espíritu de sus labios matará al impío.

5 Y será la justicia cinto de sus lomos, y la fe cinto de sus riñones.

6 Morará el lobo con el cordero, y el tigre con el cabrito se acostará; el becerro y el león y la bestia doméstica andarán juntos, y <I>un</I> niño los pastoreará.

7 La vaca y la osa pacerán, sus crías se echarán juntas; y el león como <I>el</I> buey comerá paja.

8 Y el niño jugará sobre la cueva del áspid; y el recién destetado extenderá su mano sobre la caverna del basilisco.

9 No harán mal, ni dañarán en todo mi santo Monte; porque la tierra será llena del conocimiento del SEÑOR, como las aguas cubren el mar.

10 Y acontecerá en aquel tiempo, que la Raíz de Jessé, la cual estará <I>puesta</I> por pendón a los gentiles, será buscada de los gentiles; y su <I>Reino</I> de paz será glorioso.

11 Y acontecerá en aquel tiempo, que el SEÑOR tornará a poner otra vez su mano, para poseer el remanente de su pueblo que fue dejado de Assur, y de Egipto, y de Patros, y de Etiopía, y de Elam, y de Caldea, y de Hamat, y de las islas del mar.

12 Y levantará pendón a los gentiles, y juntará los desterrados de Israel, y reunirá los esparcidos de Judá de los cuatro cantones de la tierra.

13 Y se disipará la envidia de Efraín, y los enemigos de Judá serán talados. Efraín no tendrá envidia contra Judá, ni Judá afligirá a Efraín;

14 mas volarán sobre los hombros de los filisteos al occidente; saquearán a los de oriente; Edom y Moab les servirán, y los hijos de Amón les darán obediencia.

15 Y secará el SEÑOR la lengua del mar de Egipto; y levantará su mano con fortaleza de su espíritu sobre el Río, y lo herirá en siete riberas, y hará que pasen <I>por él</I> con zapatos.

16 Y habrá camino para el remanente de su pueblo, lo que quedó de Assur, de la manera que lo hubo para Israel el día que subió de la tierra de Egipto.

1 A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.

2 The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the LORD—

3 and he will delight in the fear of the LORD. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears;

4 but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked.

5 Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around his waist.

6 The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them.

7 The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox.

8 The infant will play near the cobra’s den, and the young child will put its hand into the viper’s nest.

9 They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the LORDas the waters cover the sea.

10 In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his resting place will be glorious.

11 In that day the Lord will reach out his hand a second time to reclaim the surviving remnant of his people from Assyria, from Lower Egypt, from Upper Egypt, from Cush, from Elam, from Babylonia, from Hamath and from the islands of the Mediterranean.

12 He will raise a banner for the nations and gather the exiles of Israel; he will assemble the scattered people of Judah from the four quarters of the earth.

13 Ephraim’s jealousy will vanish, and Judah’s enemies will be destroyed; Ephraim will not be jealous of Judah, nor Judah hostile toward Ephraim.

14 They will swoop down on the slopes of Philistia to the west; together they will plunder the people to the east. They will subdue Edom and Moab, and the Ammonites will be subject to them.

15 The LORD will dry up the gulf of the Egyptian sea; with a scorching wind he will sweep his hand over the Euphrates River. He will break it up into seven streams so that anyone can cross over in sandals.

16 There will be a highway for the remnant of his people that is left from Assyria, as there was for Israel when they came up from Egypt.
