42 Und er sprach zu Jesu: Gedenke meiner, Herr wenn du in deinem Reiche kommst!

Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom. ”
43 Und Jesus sprach zu ihm: Wahrlich, ich sage dir: Heute wirst du mit mir im Paradiese sein.

Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
44 Es war aber um die sechste Stunde; und es kam eine Finsternis über das ganze Land bis zur neunten Stunde.

It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon,
45 Und die Sonne ward verfinstert, und der Vorhang des Tempels riß mitten entzwei.

for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two.
46 Und Jesus rief mit lauter Stimme und sprach: Vater, in deine Hände übergebe ich meinen Geist! Und als er dies gesagt hatte, verschied er.

Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last.
47 Als aber der Hauptmann sah, was geschah, verherrlichte er Gott und sagte: Fürwahr, dieser Mensch war gerecht.

The centurion, seeing what had happened, praised God and said, “Surely this was a righteous man.”
48 Und alle die Volksmengen, die zu diesem Schauspiel zusammengekommen waren, schlugen sich, als sie sahen, was geschehen war, an die Brust und kehrten zurück.

When all the people who had gathered to witness this sight saw what took place, they beat their breasts and went away.
49 Aber alle seine Bekannten standen von ferne, auch die Weiber, die ihm von Galiläa nachgefolgt waren, und sahen dies.

But all those who knew him, including the women who had followed him from Galilee, stood at a distance, watching these things.
50 Und siehe, ein Mann, mit Namen Joseph, der ein Ratsherr war, ein guter und gerechter Mann, -

Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, a good and upright man,
51 dieser hatte nicht eingewilligt in ihren Rat und in ihre Tat, von Arimathia, einer Stadt der Juden, der auch selbst das Reich Gottes erwartete;

who had not consented to their decision and action. He came from the Judean town of Arimathea, and he himself was waiting for the kingdom of God.

Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body.
