Numbers 16:2-12

JUB

NIV

2 and they rose up against Moses, with two hundred and fifty men of the sons of Israel, princes of the congregation, of the council, men of renown;
2 and rose up against Moses. With them were 250 Israelite men, well-known community leaders who had been appointed members of the council.
3 and they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron and said unto them, We have had enough of you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them; why then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD?
3 They came as a group to oppose Moses and Aaron and said to them, “You have gone too far! The whole community is holy, every one of them, and the LORD is with them. Why then do you set yourselves above the LORD’s assembly?”
4 And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face;
4 When Moses heard this, he fell facedown.
5 and he spoke unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, Tomorrow the LORD will show who are his and who is holy and will cause the one who is holy to come near unto him; the one whom he has chosen he will cause to come near unto him.
5 Then he said to Korah and all his followers: “In the morning the LORD will show who belongs to him and who is holy, and he will have that person come near him. The man he chooses he will cause to come near him.
6 Do this: Take censers, Korah, and all his company,
6 You, Korah, and all your followers are to do this: Take censers
7 and put fire in them and put incense in them before the LORD tomorrow; and it shall be that the man whom the LORD chooses, he shall be holy; this shall be enough for you, ye sons of Levi.
7 and tomorrow put burning coals and incense in them before the LORD. The man the LORD chooses will be the one who is holy. You Levites have gone too far!”
8 And Moses said unto Korah, Hear, I pray you, ye sons of Levi:
8 Moses also said to Korah, “Now listen, you Levites!
9 Does it seem but a small thing unto you that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself to minister in the service of the tabernacle of the LORD and to stand before the congregation to minister unto them?
9 Isn’t it enough for you that the God of Israel has separated you from the rest of the Israelite community and brought you near himself to do the work at the LORD’s tabernacle and to stand before the community and minister to them?
10 And that he has brought thee near to him and all thy brethren the sons of Levi with thee, and ye seek the priesthood also?
10 He has brought you and all your fellow Levites near himself, but now you are trying to get the priesthood too.
11 For which cause both thou and all thy company are gathered together against the LORD, for what is Aaron, that ye murmur against him?
11 It is against the LORD that you and all your followers have banded together. Who is Aaron that you should grumble against him?”
12 And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, but they replied, We will not come up.
12 Then Moses summoned Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab. But they said, “We will not come!
