ThenPaulstoodin the midst of Mars' hill, and said , Ye men of Athens, I perceivethatin all thingsye are too superstitious.

For as I passed by , andbeheldyourdevotions*, I found an altar with this*inscription , TO THE UNKNOWNGOD.Whomtherefore ye ignorantlyworship , himdeclareI unto you.

God that made the worldand all thingstherein*, seeing that heisLord of heavenandearth,dwellethnotintemples made with hands;

Neither is worshippedwithmen'shands, as though he needed any thing, seeing hegiveth to alllife,andbreath,and all things;

And hath madeofonebloodallnations of men for to dwellonall the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed , and the bounds of theirhabitation;

That they should seek the Lord,ifhaply they might feel after him,and find him , though he benotfarfromeveryone of us:

Forinhim we live , andmove , and have our being ; ascertainalso of yourownpoets have said , For we arealsohisoffspring.

Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we oughtnot to think that the Godheadislike unto gold,orsilver,orstone,graven by artandman'sdevice.
