AtthattimeJesuswent on the sabbath daythrough the corn;andhisdisciples were an hungred, andbegan to pluck the ears of corn,and to eat.

But when the Phariseessaw it, they said unto him,Behold, thydisciplesdo that whichisnotlawful to doupon the sabbath day.

But he said unto them,Have yenotreadwhatDaviddid, whenhe was an hungred, andthey that were with him;

How he entered into* the house of God,and did eat the shewbread*, whichwasnotlawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him,butonly for the priests?

Or have yenotreadin the law, how that on the sabbath days the priestsin the templeprofane the sabbath,andareblameless?

But I say unto you,That in this place is one greater than the temple.

Butif ye had knownwhat this meaneth, I will havemercy,andnotsacrifice, ye wouldnot have condemned the guiltless.

And when he was departedthence, he wentintotheirsynagogue:

And,behold, there was a man which had his handwithered.And they askedhim,saying, Is it lawful* to heal on the sabbath days?that they might accusehim.

And he said unto them,Whatman shall there beamongyou,that shall haveonesheep,andifitfallinto a pit on the sabbath day, will henot lay hold on it,and lift it out?

How muchthen is a man better than a sheep?Wherefore it is lawful to dowell on the sabbath days.

Thensaith he to the man, Stretch forththinehand.And he stretched it forth; and it was restoredwhole, like as the other.

Then the Pharisees went out, and held[a] a councilagainsthim,how they might destroyhim.

But when Jesusknew it, he withdrew himself from thence:andgreatmultitudesfollowedhim,and he healedthemall;
