Salmos 129:2-8

2 gravemente me angustiaram desde a minha mocidade, todavia não prevaleceram contra mim.

3 Os lavradores araram sobre as minhas costas; compridos fizeram os seus sulcos.

4 O Senhor é justo; ele corta as cordas dos ímpios.

5 Sejam envergonhados e repelidos para trás todos os que odeiam a Sião.

6 Sejam como a erva dos telhados, que seca antes de florescer;

7 com a qual o segador não enche a mão, nem o regaço o que ata os feixes;

8 nem dizem os que passam: A bênção do Senhor seja sobre vós; nós vos abençoamos em nome do Senhor.

INTRODUCTION TO PSALM 129

\\<>\\. This psalm was written in later times, after many of the distresses of Israel; very probably upon the Jews return from the Babylonish captivity, by Ezra, or some other godly person. Aben Ezra says the psalmist speaks in the language of Israel in captivity; and the same is the sense of Kimchi and Arama. The Syriac inscription is, ``a psalm without a name, concerning the distress of the people; but as to us, it intimates to us the victory and triumph of the worshippers.''
