A Season of Reflection Week 1 Video: The Promise of Hope

The first week of Advent is about hope, specifically, the hope Israelites had for the promised Messiah. These people have been waiting for the Messiah for centuries, when God promised the people of Israel he would give them a Savior to save them from their sins. 

But Jesus wasn’t the Messiah people expected—he came not as an avenging king but as the final Passover lamb to be a sacrifice for people’s sin. Many of those waiting for the Messiah missed his coming because they didn’t take their eyes off their current circumstance. His birth fulfilled the hope of Israel in a way no one expected but one that changed our future forever.
