But you, man of God,4 flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness,5 faith, love,6 endurance and gentleness.
Fight the good fight7 of the faith. Take hold of8 the eternal life9 to which you were called when you made your good confession10 in the presence of many witnesses.
In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate11 made the good confession,12 I charge you1314
to keep this command without spot or blame14 until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,1515
which God will bring about in his own time16--God, the blessed17 and only Ruler,18 the King of kings and Lord of lords,1916
who alone is immortal20 and who lives in unapproachable light,21 whom no one has seen or can see.22 To him be honor and might forever. Amen.2317
Command those who are rich24 in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth,25 which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God,26 who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.2718
Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds,28 and to be generous and willing to share.2919
In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves30 as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of31 the life that is truly life.
Timothy, guard what has been entrusted32 to your care. Turn away from godless chatter33 and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge,
