to keep this command without spot or blame1 until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,215
which God will bring about in his own time3--God, the blessed4 and only Ruler,5 the King of kings and Lord of lords,616
who alone is immortal7 and who lives in unapproachable light,8 whom no one has seen or can see.9 To him be honor and might forever. Amen.1017
Command those who are rich11 in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth,12 which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God,13 who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.1418
Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds,15 and to be generous and willing to share.1619
In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves17 as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of18 the life that is truly life.
Timothy, guard what has been entrusted19 to your care. Turn away from godless chatter20 and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge,
which some have professed and in so doing have wandered from the faith.21 Grace be with you.22
