"I also withheld1 rain from you when the harvest was still three months away. I sent rain on one town, but withheld it from another.2 One field had rain; another had none and dried up.
People staggered from town to town for water3 but did not get enough4 to drink, yet you have not returned5 to me," declares the LORD.6
"Many times I struck your gardens and vineyards, I struck them with blight and mildew.7 Locusts8 devoured your fig and olive trees,9 yet you have not returned10 to me," declares the LORD.
"I sent plagues11 among you as I did to Egypt.12 I killed your young men13 with the sword, along with your captured horses. I filled your nostrils with the stench14 of your camps, yet you have not returned to me,"15 declares the LORD.16
"I overthrew some of you as I overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.17 You were like a burning stick18 snatched from the fire, yet you have not returned to me," declares the LORD.19
"Therefore this is what I will do to you, Israel, and because I will do this to you, prepare to meet your God, O Israel."
He who forms the mountains,20 creates the wind,21 and reveals his thoughts22 to man, he who turns dawn to darkness, and treads the high places of the earth23-- the LORD God Almighty is his name.24
