View In My Bible
7 "But ask the animals, and they will teach you,1 or the birds of the air,2 and they will tell you;3 8 or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish of the sea inform you. 9 Which of all these does not know4 that the hand of the LORD has done this?5 10 In his hand is the life6 of every creature and the breath of all mankind.7 11 Does not the ear test words as the tongue tastes food?8 12 Is not wisdom found among the aged?9 Does not long life bring understanding?10 13 "To God belong wisdom11 and power;12 counsel and understanding are his.13 14 What he tears down14 cannot be rebuilt;15 the man he imprisons cannot be released.16 15 If he holds back the waters,17 there is drought;18 if he lets them loose, they devastate the land.19 16 To him belong strength and victory;20 both deceived and deceiver are his.21 17 He leads counselors away stripped22 and makes fools of judges.23 18 He takes off the shackles24 put on by kings and ties a loinclotha around their waist.25 19 He leads priests away stripped26 and overthrows men long established.27 20 He silences the lips of trusted advisers and takes away the discernment of elders.28 21 He pours contempt on nobles29 and disarms the mighty.30 22 He reveals the deep things of darkness31 and brings deep shadows32 into the light.33 23 He makes nations great, and destroys them;34 he enlarges nations,35 and disperses them.36 24 He deprives the leaders of the earth of their reason;37 he sends them wandering through a trackless waste.38 25 They grope in darkness with no light;39 he makes them stagger like drunkards.40
