till I entered the sanctuary1 of God; then I understood their final destiny.218
Surely you place them on slippery ground;3 you cast them down to ruin.419
How suddenly5 are they destroyed, completely swept away6 by terrors!
As a dream7 when one awakes,8 so when you arise, O Lord, you will despise them as fantasies.921
When my heart was grieved and my spirit embittered,
I was senseless10 and ignorant; I was a brute beast11 before you.
Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand.1224
You guide13 me with your counsel,14 and afterward you will take me into glory.
Whom have I in heaven but you?15 And earth has nothing I desire besides you.1626
My flesh and my heart17 may fail,18 but God is the strength19 of my heart and my portion20 forever.
