When I was in distress,1 I sought the Lord; at night2 I stretched out untiring hands3 and my soul refused to be comforted.4

I remembered5 you, O God, and I groaned;6 I mused, and my spirit grew faint.7 "Selah"

You kept my eyes from closing; I was too troubled to speak.8

I thought about the former days,9 the years of long ago;

I remembered my songs in the night. My heart mused and my spirit inquired:
