The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen,1 white2 and clean.
Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword3 with which to strike down4 the nations. "He will rule them with an iron scepter."a5 He treads the winepress6 of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty.
On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:7 KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.817
And I saw an angel standing in the sun, who cried in a loud voice to all the birds9 flying in midair,10 "Come,11 gather together for the great supper of God,1218
so that you may eat the flesh of kings, generals, and mighty men, of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all people,13 free and slave,14 small and great."1519
Then I saw the beast16 and the kings of the earth17 and their armies gathered together to make war against the rider on the horse18 and his army.
But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet19 who had performed the miraculous signs20 on his behalf.21 With these signs he had deluded22 those who had received the mark of the beast23 and worshiped his image.24 The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake25 of burning sulfur.2621
The rest of them were killed with the sword27 that came out of the mouth of the rider on the horse,28 and all the birds29 gorged themselves on their flesh.
