Go into the rocks, hide1 in the ground from dread of the LORD and the splendor of his majesty!2
11
The eyes of the arrogant3 man will be humbled4 and the pride5 of men brought low;6 the LORD alone will be exalted7 in that day.8
12
The LORD Almighty has a day9 in store for all the proud10 and lofty,11 for all that is exalted12 (and they will be humbled),13
13
for all the cedars of Lebanon,14 tall and lofty,15 and all the oaks of Bashan,16
14
for all the towering mountains and all the high hills,17
15
for every lofty tower18 and every fortified wall,19
16
for every trading shipa20 and every stately vessel.

The arrogance of man will be brought low21 and the pride of men humbled;22 the LORD alone will be exalted in that day,23
18
and the idols24 will totally disappear.25
19
Men will flee to caves26 in the rocks and to holes in the ground27 from dread28 of the LORD and the splendor of his majesty,29 when he rises to shake the earth.30
20
In that day31 men will throw away to the rodents and bats32 their idols of silver and idols of gold,33 which they made to worship.34
21
They will flee to caverns in the rocks35 and to the overhanging crags from dread of the LORD and the splendor of his majesty,36 when he rises37 to shake the earth.38
