Isaiah 33:15-24 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
15 He who walks righteously1 and speaks what is right,2 who rejects gain from extortion3 and keeps his hand from accepting bribes,4 who stops his ears against plots of murder and shuts his eyes5 against contemplating evil-- 16 this is the man who will dwell on the heights,6 whose refuge7 will be the mountain fortress.8 His bread will be supplied, and water will not fail9 him. 17 Your eyes will see the king10 in his beauty11 and view a land that stretches afar.12 18 In your thoughts you will ponder the former terror:13 "Where is that chief officer? Where is the one who took the revenue? Where is the officer in charge of the towers?14" 19 You will see those arrogant people15 no more, those people of an obscure speech, with their strange, incomprehensible tongue.16 20 Look upon Zion,17 the city of our festivals; your eyes will see Jerusalem, a peaceful abode,18 a tent19 that will not be moved;20 its stakes will never be pulled up, nor any of its ropes broken. 21 There the LORD will be our Mighty21 One. It will be like a place of broad rivers and streams.22 No galley with oars will ride them, no mighty ship23 will sail them. 22 For the LORD is our judge,24 the LORD is our lawgiver,25 the LORD is our king;26 it is he who will save27 us. 23 Your rigging hangs loose: The mast is not held secure, the sail is not spread. Then an abundance of spoils will be divided and even the lame28 will carry off plunder.29 24 No one living in Zion will say, "I am ill";30 and the sins of those who dwell there will be forgiven.31
