I am the LORD, and there is no other;1 apart from me there is no God.2 I will strengthen you,3 though you have not acknowledged me,
so that from the rising of the sun to the place of its setting4 men may know5 there is none besides me.6 I am the LORD, and there is no other.
I form the light and create darkness,7 I bring prosperity and create disaster;8 I, the LORD, do all these things.
"You heavens above, rain9 down righteousness;10 let the clouds shower it down. Let the earth open wide, let salvation11 spring up, let righteousness grow with it; I, the LORD, have created it.
"Woe to him who quarrels12 with his Maker,13 to him who is but a potsherd14 among the potsherds on the ground. Does the clay say to the potter,15 'What are you making?'16 Does your work say, 'He has no hands'?1710
Woe to him who says to his father, 'What have you begotten?' or to his mother, 'What have you brought to birth?'
