"As surely as I live," declares the LORD, "even if you, Jehoiachina1 son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, were a signet ring2 on my right hand, I would still pull you off.
I will hand you over3 to those who seek your life, those you fear--to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and to the Babylonians.b26
I will hurl4 you and the mother5 who gave you birth into another country, where neither of you was born, and there you both will die.
You will never come back to the land you long to return6 to."
Is this man Jehoiachin7 a despised, broken pot,8 an object no one wants? Why will he and his children be hurled9 out, cast into a land10 they do not know?
O land,11 land, land, hear the word of the LORD!
This is what the LORD says: "Record this man as if childless,12 a man who will not prosper13 in his lifetime, for none of his offspring14 will prosper, none will sit on the throne15 of David or rule anymore in Judah."
