63 And he asked for a writing table, and wrote , saying , His name is John. And they marvelled all. 2 Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness. 15 And as the people were in expectation , and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not; 16 John answered , saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh , the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose : he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire: 20 Added yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison. 10 And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men. 33 And they said unto him, Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink ? 14 Simon, (whom he also named Peter,) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew, 18 And the disciples of John shewed him of all these things. 19 And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying , Art thou he that should come ? or look we for another? 20 When the men were come unto him, they said , John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying , Art thou he that should come ? or look we for another? 22 Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way , and tell John what things ye have seen and heard ; how that the blind see , the lame walk , the lepers are cleansed , the deaf hear , the dead are raised , to the poor the gospel is preached . 24 And when the messengers of John were departed , he began to speak unto the people concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness for to see ? A reed shaken with the wind? 28 For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he. 33 For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say , He hath a devil. 51 And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in , save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden. 7 Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him: and he was perplexed , because that it was said of some, that John was risen from the dead; 9 And Herod said , John have I beheaded : but who is this, of whom I hear such things? And he desired to see him. 19 They answering said , John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again . 28 And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings , he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray . 49 And John answered and said , Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us. 54 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said , Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did ? 1 And it came to pass , that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased , one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray , as John also taught his disciples. 16 The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached , and every man presseth into it. 4 The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? 6 But and if we say , Of men; all the people will stone us: for they be persuaded that John was a prophet. 8 And he sent Peter and John, saying , Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat .
