5
My enemies say of me in malice, "When will he die and his name perish?1"
6
Whenever one comes to see me, he speaks falsely,2 while his heart gathers slander;3 then he goes out and spreads4 it abroad.
7
All my enemies whisper together5 against me; they imagine the worst for me, saying,
8
"A vile disease has beset him; he will never get up6 from the place where he lies."
9
Even my close friend,7 whom I trusted, he who shared my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.810
But you, O LORD, have mercy9 on me; raise me up,10 that I may repay11 them.
11
I know that you are pleased with me,12 for my enemy does not triumph over me.1312
In my integrity14 you uphold me15 and set me in your presence forever.1613
Praise17 be to the LORD, the God of Israel,18 from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen.19
