Ezekiel 46:23

23 There was a [stone] wall[a] around the inside of them, around the four of them, with ovens built at the base of the walls on all sides.

Ezekiel 46:23 Meaning and Commentary

Ezekiel 46:23

And there was a row of building round about in them
Within the courts, not on the outside of them: these were either chambers to eat the sacrifices in when boiled; or they were sheds which covered the cooks, and the meat they were boiling, from the rain: the Targum renders it,

``and walls were made to them round about;''
to the court: and so Jarchi and Kimchi interpret this row of building of a stone wall: round about them four;
the four courts at the four corners: and it was made with boiling places under the rows round about;
under these rows of building, chambers or sheds; or under these stone walls were furnaces, and coppers, and caldrons, set on them, for the boiling of the sacrifices.

Ezekiel 46:23 In-Context

21 Next he brought me into the outer court and led me past its four corners. There was a [separate] court in each of its corners.
22 In the four corners of the [outer] court there were enclosed courts, 70 [feet] long by 52 and a half [feet] wide. All four corner areas had the same dimensions.
23 There was a [stone] wall around the inside of them, around the four of them, with ovens built at the base of the walls on all sides.
24 He said to me: "These are the kitchens where those who minister at the temple will cook the people's sacrifices."
